Yes, that’s right. You ARE the product, at least your time is the product. A product that is paid for once in a while (your paycheck) and often paid for with love (your family and friends).

But here’s the real question, is this what you want that product to be known for?

I’d like you to put 30 minutes of uninterrupted time on your calendar this week. Find a space where you can be alone, where you can turn off your phone, where you are away from the distractions of co-workers, family, pets, friends - yes all of it. This can be during the week or over the weekend, it doesn’t matter.

When you walk in the room take with you a single piece of blank paper and something to write with. And no, don’t type on your laptop, don’t text yourself on the phone. We want you to do this with an old-fashioned pen and paper. Trust us on this one, there IS a reason.

Now here’s the exercise:

I’m your fairy godmother. Can you see me? The big sparkly dress? The wand? All of it.

Now all your professional dreams have come true. Yes, I’m sorry, you still need to work. But answer me. What does your work look like? What kind of things are you doing? What kind of problems are you solving?

Now take that piece of paper and start writing the answers. Write for 30 mins. Don’t stop.

Remember, keep an open mind and there are no wrong answers. You can share the answers with people if you’d like, or not. If you want to share them with us we’d love to see. Just take a photo and send it our way.

Now here’s the magic bit. When you’re feeling a little less confident than your usual awesome self we want you to pull out the piece of paper, or pull up that photo and take a quick read.
